The players
Baltic Environmental Forum
Deutschland e.V.
BEF Germany is a non-governmental non-profit organisation founded in 2003 with the aim to promote environmental protection around the Baltic Sea rim and also other parts of Eastern and South Eastern Europe. The origin of BEF Germany is in the Baltic States, where, when established there in 1995, the main objective was to build up capacities on EU environmental legislation and to support the accession process in the newly independent State’s environmental administration.
Being a member of the BEF Group BEF Germany is closely linked with its partner organisations in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Russia (St. Petersburg). The vast majority of our projects are implemented in cross-country teams in co-operation with these partners. Our common aim is to bring together different stakeholders in the region, to facilitate the dialogue on environmental issues, and help to overcome communication barriers. Apart from that, we offer expertise in selected areas, such as nature conservation, EU chemicals policy, and EU legal requirements for local and regional self-government.
